Half Marathon and Marathon
Favorite Race Distance:
Marathon. In high school and college, my teammates and coaches would often joke that I could never find a race long enough for me. I think I finally found it, although I would like to try an ultra someday!
Boston Marathon 2013. It was my first Boston. After the race, I was on cloud 9 because I ran a really smart race and was very happy with my time. Then the bombings occurred and the race took on a whole new meaning. I will never forget that day and what it showed for the resilience and strength of our sport.
Long-Term Running Goals:
I would like to compete in all the World Major marathons. I have London, Tokyo, and NYC left - halfway there!
Favorite Part of Running:
The pure joy it brings even on the worst of days. We all have those days when simply getting out the door is the hardest part of the run. Yet those are typically the days when once I get going I feel so alive and fresh, I come back with a completely changed outlook on running and life.
