Long-Term Running Goals:
I would love to run an OTQ in the marathon and also run an Ultra.
Motivation to Run:
I run because I can. When my mother was 29 years old she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Even on the days where the last thing I want to do is run, I remind myself how fortunate I am to have the ability to get out the door and be on the road. It is not always easy, but at the end of the day, we are all so lucky to be a part of such an amazing sport and community.
Favorite Part of Running:
I get back 10x more than I put into the sport. Running has opened so many doors that I didn't know where possible. I have seen some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, met so many remarkable people and have had a complete blast along the way.
Nothing inspires me more than a good comeback story. I am constantly amazed by the resiliency of the human spirit. To hear about a runner who has had to claw their way back to the top is truly motivating. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well."
Favorite Part of Being a DWRunner:
Although I just joined, I can already tell there is a great sense of community. As someone who runs 99.9% of their miles alone, I am looking forward to sharing my journey with like-minded people. Additionally, it is incredibly empowering to feel like someone (Dan) has a GENUINE interest in my career.
