Favorite Place to Run:
Traverse City, MI, specifically the Great Traverse Bay! It is not only a beautiful place, but also has significant ties to my time as a runner. I ran my first marathon (Bayshore Marathon) there in 2011 and 6 years later ran a BQ on the same course, over 50 minutes faster than my first marathon time.
Motivation to Run:
I run because it makes me feel great and gives me time to unwind and de-stress every day. I also really enjoy setting goals and working towards them. While I love my career as a healthcare attorney, I think it is so important to have non-work related goals to stay balanced and healthy, especially in a demanding and sometimes stressful industry, and running provides me that outlet.
My marathon PR! I really struggled around miles 16-19 and started to doubt everything, but I pulled it together mentally and got back on pace for the last 7 miles and still ended up PRing by 2.5 minutes. While I was ecstatic about the PR, I think I was even more proud of my mental toughness and that I did not let myself give up when I was struggling.
