Marathon - those 20 mile training runs are addicting!
Motivation When Hurting During a Race or Workout:
My original mantra that I write on my arm for races: "Stop Being Tired and Start Being Awesome!" I also divide the race into thirds (run with your head, run with your legs and run with your heart) and dedicate each portion to someone.
My 94-year-old grandma who is still sassy, sharp as a tack and walks as much as possible. She gets a little envious at all of the things women can do today that she wishes she could have done 50 years ago and she lives vicariously through me. I'd love to feel even half as good as she does when I'm older - running can only help!
I would love to run the Inca Trail marathon! I hiked it a few years ago and it remains the best trip I've ever taken. A friend and I basically speed-hiked the trail anyway, so I'd love to do it again running (after a solid 2 weeks of acclimating)!
"I can't run without...":
Stopping on the mile exactly. Garmins and OCD aren't the most compatible combination.
Favorite Part of Being a DWRunner:
Our amazing coach of course! I also love that even though I don't live in Chicago, everyone was incredibly nice and made me feel so welcome when I was in town for the Chicago Marathon and finally got to meet the team!
Mountains or Ocean?:
Tea or Coffee?:
Early Bird or Night Owl?:
If I had my way, night owl. Unfortunately, life has determined that I'm an early bird.
Chocolate or Vanilla?:
Dark chocolate all the way.
Bolded PRs are PRs run while training with DWRunning.
