I am most proud of my first marathon, which is where I set my PR of 3:15:29. Immediately after stepping off the start line, I felt the flow in my body as if I were born to be a marathoner. I crushed my goal of 3:45 and unleashed the potential that had been hibernating inside me all this time. The rest is history.
Long-Term Running Goals:
My super long-term goal is to live a healthy lifestyle, but a "shorter" long-term goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Motivation to Run:
It gives me a chance to unplug--I run without any music--and enjoy the beautiful surroundings that are around me. It also gives me a chance to tune into my body and test my potential.
Motivation when hurting during a race or workout:
I once suffered hypothermia during a training in the freezing, snowy Chicago winter by the lakefront. The gym was still 3 miles away when I started shivering and I thought I would never make it back. When the goings get tough, I still think about this day.
