Marathon and half marathon
Motivation During A Race:
Toward the end of a race, I pick out one runner in front of me and focus on catching them, then repeat this until the end. It reminds me that goals are achieved by a series of incremental steps -- this day and this decision and then the next -- until we arrive at our finish lines.
Favorite Place to Run:
In addition to discovering new cities by foot while traveling, I really loved living next to the Chain of Lakes trail system in Minneapolis for nearly a decade. It will always hold the nostalgia of home, in addition to its extensive and well-maintained trail network, natural beauty, and vibrant running community (even mid-winter!).
Tiberius Marathon in Israel: this race wins as "most memorable" on all accounts! It was a particularly windy day, with side gusts that made you bump into your neighbor for the great majority of an out and back course. But the field and fans were exceptionally friendly, scenery spectacular, and race nutrition a real treat. The race offered a deeper experience of the local culture while we together focused on our shared passion -- what a way to see and experience the beautiful world!
Favorite Part of Running:
For me, running is a form of meditation, allowing me to think and breathe and find stillness in motion. I love, love that.
Mountains or Ocean?:
Tea or Coffee?:
Early Bird or Night Owl?:
Both! I'm just very much not an afternoon person (mexican siesta, por favor).
Chocolate or Vanilla?:
Bolded PRs are PRs run while training with DWRunning.
