I focus on long distance. I'd rather run a marathon than a 5k. :)
Long-Term Running Goals:
Sub-3 marathon. I want to still be putting in some miles when I'm a senior citizen.
My current marathon PR was run at Indy Monumental in 2014. I fell while running (it happens!) the first week of training and had to manage discomfort in my knee throughout the cycle. After changing how I approached my training and the race itself, I found myself at the start line just thinking that I would stop thinking and just RUN. No expectations & a small fire burning - just hoping that I could pull off a PR. I ran a 3+ minute PR and couldn't believe that my legs carried me that fast. I'm proud of myself for being willing to make some changes throughout training and then to get to the start line with a "here goes!" attitude.
Favorite Part of Running:
My favorite part of running is the community. My best friends are runners and beer drinkers. I don't think that's a coincidence!
Motivation to Run:
I run because it gives me energy. When I dedicate time to myself through running, I find that I have so much more energy in other areas of my life.
