DWRunning Tenure:
Joined in October 1985 (Dan's birth)
PRs:
Half Marathon: 1:03:22, Marathon: 2:19:56
Primary Focus:
The Marathon. It is a race that allows (and encourages!) the runner to actually enjoy the first miles before heading into the Dark Room.
Proudest PR:
Columbus Marathon 1986. Time of 2:19:56. Windy and cold (39 degrees) day. Set my PR and qualified for the US Olympic Marathon Trials. Smiled for a month!
Long-Term Running Goals:
I am aiming towards setting the American Record for the Marathon and Half Marathon in the 60-64 Age Group.
Running Start:
1968. Marangu, Tanzania. Began running early morning workouts with the college students of the Marangu Teacher's Training College. 3 miles every morning at 6am on the side of Mount Kilimanjaro brought pain and a sense of accomplishment every day.
Motivation When Hurting During a Race or Workout:
The fear of losing to another old, bald guy. NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.
Reward for a Good Race:
Chocolate... in any and all forms.
Favorite Part of Being a DWRunner:
Love the great people and workouts!
Tea or Coffee?:
Tea Tea Tea
Early Bird or Night Owl?:
Early People Rule
Chocolate or Vanilla?:
There really is no choice. The big C.
