Marathon until I get that OTQ, then back to the shorter stuff!
Two races really stand out:
Chicago Marathon 2016 - I was just planning to pace some Fleet Feet teammates through 15ish miles and then drop out, but I kept feeling better and better as the race went. By mile 18, I had dropped the group I was running with and decided to stick it out to the finish. My last 10k was my fastest of the race and I ended up running a 15-minute PR of 2:24:56 (1:13:00 first half, 1:11:56 second half). Leading up to that race, my longest runs were around 13 miles because I was training for shorter races. It was one of those rare days where everything felt amazing and racing didn't feel hard.
Beer Mile World Classic 2017 in London - Getting to travel internationally for a race and getting my first beer mile world title was a profound experience.
Motivation to Run:
It is my form of meditation and disciplines me to be my best at all aspects of my life
My dad ran daily when I was growing up and competed at road races in the area almost every weekend. I started participating at the kid's races (100 yard dash, 1/4 mile run) before I was in kindergarten
