Primary Focus:

Engine is built for marathons but the chassis isn't. Therefore, I'm a half marathon guy.

Pre-Race Routine:

I've had a few races that I've done really well at where I sang really loud to myself in the car beforehand. I have a theory that this deep and heavy breathing beforehand is stretching out the diaphragm and promoting full use of the lungs. Unfortunately when you're going to a race with other people in the car, this results in an extended socially awkward moment.

Most Memorable Run:

I got to run probably a quarter mile with Ryan Hall in San Diego along the bay. I was sitting at a stop light after visiting the warship museum and noticed Ryan passing across the street at the next light up. I pulled over to the side of the road, told Erin to wait, and immediately ran after him. To my surprise, he was very willing to talk while jogging.

Motivation When Hurting During a Race or Workout:

The feeling you have when you miss your goal after a race. The one thing i absolutely love about running is that everybody is out on the same course with basically the same equipment. Your preparation and game day execution are solely up to you and ultimately you control the level of success you achieve. I've always been goal oriented and hate letting myself down. Running is a sport where fate really is in your own hands.

Desired Super Power:

The ability to heal quickly. I'd like to be Wolverine really.

Favorite Part of Being a DWRunner:

The group long runs. I do so much of my mileage alone that the team atmosphere for the grueling stuff really helps.
