The Boston Marathon - I ran an 8 minute PR at Boston in 2011, so my perspective might be skewed by that (and the fact that it was a perfect day for a marathon - 50 degrees with a tailwind). But the intense energy of the crowds and how that energy built in the back half of the race was incredible and something I'll never forget.
Favorite Run Location:
I ran the Great Ocean Road Half Marathon while studying abroad in Australia. The race goes along the Great Ocean Road on the south side of the country and has AMAZING coastal views plus random trees with koalas dangling in them. It was super unique, beautiful and memorable - I hope to eventually run there again!
I've been running since the track season of 7th grade. My mom 'forced' me to join cross country in 8th grade since I had recently quit soccer and dance, which I did reluctantly. Turns out that would be a life changing decision!
I love marathon workouts since they come more naturally for me. I probably have the most 'fun' with alternating halves (several mile run oscillating between 800m slightly faster than MP and 800m slightly slower than MP).
Reward for a Good Race:
Ice cream sundae - caramel, chocolate, warm brownie... pile it on!
Favorite Part of Being a DWRunner:
Gaining so many new running buddies and friends! I trained completely solo from 2008 through 2013, so re-joining a team atmosphere has been so much fun and has been instrumental in helping me improve.
