10k: 40:02, Marathon: 2:53:15
I started off in high school running the 400 and 800, and my first distance race as an adult was 10 miles. Recently I have focused more on the marathon, but I am also starting to run more 5k and 10k's.
Long-Term Running Goals:
I would love to complete all six of the World Marathon Majors, and I would really love to go sub three hours for all six.
Motivation to Run:
I run for the peace of mind it provides, the physical challenge, and the friendship. You can run anywhere you are and often times you run places you would not ever visit had you not been running. I also love the friends I've made as a result of my running.
Reward for a Good Race:
I absolutely pig out on breakfast after all my races. I usually order two or three meals at once and get a lot of crazy looks from servers, usually because they don't think there is any chance I will eat it all. I work so hard to control what I eat in training that I lose my mind for that one meal without any guilt.
Desired Runner to Share a Run With:
I would love to have been able to run with my dad. He ran track in high school and college and I think he is the person that inspired me to start running back in high school. He was definitely my biggest supporter in high school when I didn't take running all that serious which I am sure drove him crazy because I wasn't living up to my potential. I would love for him to see me now that I do take it more seriously.
Favorite Part of Being a DWRunner:
I love all the positive energy from Dan and everyone we run with. Running is a very individual sport and yet somehow we have this amazing group of people that work together and truly revel in the success of each other. It is truly one of my favorite parts of this sport to watch other people achieve success and to fell like you share in it with them. At the end of the day we are really all just competing against ourselves and realizing that makes everything more enjoyable.
